Job Summary
The Engineering Manager is responsible for developing, organizing and executing drawing documentation activities for Wisconsin Built. This includes setting strategic engineering objectives to include drawing standards, drafting capacity, schedule, process flows, leading and developing the engineering team and managing engineering resources to meet customer demands specif. Nurture a culture recognizing what “we” can accomplish, beyond what an “individual” can accomplish.
Primary Duties

Optimize Engineering capacity to assure timely completion of internal and external customer timelines and commitments.

Conducts appropriate and timely performance reviews with direct reports, assure timely reviews are held department wide.

Develop and on-boarding and orientation plan for new engineering department personnel

Develop and implementation of personal development plans and goals for all direct reports.

Interface with direct reports and peers to assist them with problem solutions as they arise in a discrete manner.

Assist the organization in developing standard forms and procedures for receiving shop drawings from Project Management for M1 distribution.

Oversee the administration of drafting software.

Participate in Manager Meetings, and Handoffs as needed
Responsibilities

Display strong leadership and direction for those within the Manufacturing Engineering department. Serve as a positive role model for others within the organization.

Mentor direct reports and others with high potential.

Assure adequate staffing is available for meeting the company’s growth predictions.

Implement and enforce drawing quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives.

Oversee subcontract drafting services and independent contract drafters.

Monitor and review the performance of the staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement.

Create, maintain and drive key engineering metrics.
Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration or Industrial Technology. Experience may amend the degree requirement.

Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques including Lean Manufacturing and 5S.

Ten years of engineering equivalent experience in a Job shop environment preferably in Custom Wood Working.

Five years of supervisory experience

Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor capabilities and all aspects of “Digital Engineering and machine programing.

Knowledge of quality systems and standards.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.

Must have strong computer skills, with the ability to use a variety of software.

Knowledge of Human resources principles and practices.
Job Relationships

Reports to President.

Close working relationship with Project Management, Procurement, and Production Control.
