Summary

The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to repair and maintain machinery, equipment, building and facilities requiring a broad knowledge of maintenance skills including mechanical repair, plumbing, welding, carpentry, fabrication and electrical repair.

 

Specific Activities

• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the facility’s equipment.

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. 

• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.

  • Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.

• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.

• Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.

• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment   in          performing duties.

• Experience with electrical schematics.

• Able to work independently as well as with a team.

• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

  • Perform routine housekeeping activities in the department and ensure adherence to established safety procedures and requirements. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

• Requires the ability to operate various tools and equipment to include various hand and power tools, metal fabrication equipment, welding equipment, plumbing equipment, and various measuring equipment

• Requires a broad knowledge of mechanical repair and maintenance as may be acquired in three years formalized program including blueprint reading and interpretation plus up to three years extensive experience. 

• Degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance or equivalent experience.

• Ability to interact with people at all levels of responsibility.

• Self-motivated and attention to detail.

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands.   The employee frequently is required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. 

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 - 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150-300 pounds with assistance from co-worker.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Able to sit for long periods of time driving vehicle in a safe manner.
