            Wisconsin Built, a manufacturer of custom casework and restaurant/retail store fixtures has an opening in our Engineering Department. 

The Programmer adds to the overall efficiency of the Pre-Production Process by creating both single part and nested part router programs. Successful outcome will be correctly programmed parts for machining based on provided drawings that will be used by the machine group to efficiently execute one-of-a-kind projects or projects that require repeated runs through the machine group with a balance of responsibility shared by the project manager or programmer.

     

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of all aspects of your programming.

  • Understand how router part drawings are generated and who would typically be handing them off to you for programming.

  •  Review incoming program requests and schedule your work according to project requirements and required shop load for completing project by the required date.

  • Review weekly production schedule; demonstrate a curiosity for upcoming production needs.

  • Stay actively involved and communicate as needed with your team members, PM’s, Engineering, BOM team, Production Control and machine department Team Leader.

Qualifications

  • Maintain a high level of confidence in why you do what you do.

  • Remain adept at the basic skills and continue to learn efficient methods of drawing, programming and organizing.

  • Review program hand-offs, looking for appropriate support information.

  • Learn about the different Router Bits we use, their rotation Speed, Feed Rates and what their proper applications are based on the different types of materials we run.

  • Be inquisitive about how cabinets and custom products that you will be programming, are manufactured and assembled to increase your understanding of what we call “Wisconsin Built Best Practices”. This will include spending some time on the shop floor.

  • Develop a complete working knowledge of all the functionality of the software and be an active member on usage.

  • Develop and maintain product libraries within Cut Rite and programming software.

  • Program requested projects in an efficient and timely manner. Developing new library products as required.

  • Involved with activities within Pre-Production how programs are being run at CNC’s to maximize material utilization.

  • Set goals for programming completion.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes.

  • Understanding of joinery construction methods

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with other functional areas.

  • Understanding or ability to learn building processes utilizing various materials

  • Able to prioritize.

  • Moderate computer skills with a strong willingness to learn.

  • Ability to work in various computer software packages.

  • Experience with drawing software preferred.

  • Willing to take on a challenge.

  • Able to work overtime when needed.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
